1984: Thought Police Dog Squad Story

Recently I designed a 1984 book cover for SVSLearn monthly challenge. Having just re-read the book. I have developed a spin-off story idea based around that oppressive totalitarian world where The Party rules. Set in London. The story is based on the Thought Police and a member of their Dog Squad - Mangy Dog.

I made the drawings using Adobe Project Gemini (in BETA).

Hate Week - The Stick

Hate Week - The Stick

Mangy Dog wakes up to and escapes their brain washing and goes on the run through the streets of London. The relentless oppression leads him to look for a way out of the city during Hate Week. Along the way he witnesses all the atrocities the Party commits in keeping their party members and proletariat inline.

The eyes are white to show nobody is home. Mangy has his sight restored.

Portfolio Time

So this week I’m working on putting together a new coherent portfolio based on my project See Creatures. That’s the plan.

What goes in a portfolio and what you take out is the magic sauce.

What goes in a portfolio and what you take out is the magic sauce.

So this week I’m working on putting together a new coherent portfolio based on my project See Creatures. That’s the plan.

My drawing has improved by drawing everyday since Inktober. I didn’t manage to get every prompt during October. But the momentum has gathered since then. Time to work out what to put in and what to take out. And another ting is to make enough stuff to have choices.

Inktober Day 26 - Elastic Orbs Stretch

Elastic Orbs - STretch Inktober 2018 Day 26 Prompt

Elastic Orbs - Stretch theme for Inktober 2018

Elastic Orbs - Stretch theme for Inktober 2018

I’ve been drawing things for Inktober on and off this month. I also started with the Society of Visual Storytelling online course. Which I found via the Inktober website. It’s an excellent way to learn about the illustration industry and improve skills. The tutors are top notch!

So practising drawing straight lines I made a piece to use for Day 26 prompt - Stretch. Basically a brush that technically is a sponge on a stick. Simples. A high tech fountain pen that guzzles a lot of ink!

Unicorns are Real. “For Realsies?”

This guy glows in the dark and accepts his existence. Day 15 of Inktober 2018. A real Unicorn inking, on a wooden panel with pink UV-fluorescent Molotow ink. That comes out orange in the dark when you shine a black lamp across the surface.

I saw a competition on the Inktober website to win loads of stuff. The Adobe MAX + Inktober Contest. The OCT 15 prompt was LIGHT.

So I though an old cheeky glowing Unicorn would be fitting for this subject.

This creation is for my niece Freya, so I hope she likes it.

Inktober Day One Poisonous digital ink drawing

So Inktober has started and I’m going to crack on and draw everyday, may post every two days. But wanted to get this one out. My mate Jay sent me a pic of him flipping the bird and said sketch this. So I did a Poisonous version of his pic. I used Kyle Webster’s Marker set of pens on adobe Sketch to create this monster.

Jay’s suggestion for what I should draw for Inktober on day one.

Every October, artists all over the world take on the Inktober drawing challenge by doing one ink drawing a day the entire month. 31 days, 31 drawings.

OpenWalls Arles photo competition entry

I just entered OpenWalls Arles photography competition Home and Away with a photograph - In Wales two Canadians and an American fight to end transplant abuse in China.

I just entered OpenWalls Arles photography competition Home and Away with a photograph - In Wales two Canadians and an American fight to end transplant abuse in China.

I chose this photo as it’s always stuck in my mind as a pivotal moment of unity between these three men. Relentlessly, they travel the world to help stop organ harvesting in China who have their organs removed by the Chinese Communist Party (CCP). Sold for vast amounts of money on a massive scale. Currently, the most harvested organs come from Falun Gong in China.

“One thing that Wales can do is say to its own transplant professionals: No contact with Chinese transplant professionals. Say to Chinese transplant professionals: No access to Welsh transplant professionals until there is acknowledgement, not just accountability in the future, but accountability of the past.” – David Matas

End Transplant Abuse in China (ETAC) Article on Hearing at National Welsh Assembly

https://endtransplantabuse.org/hearing-at-national-assembly-for-wales/

The photo went out originally in colour. I’ve been going through my photo archives and picking my favorite portraits and making black and white versions using the DxO filters i’ve recently purchased. Within the filter set the Silver EFX Pro 2 filter is great as they can be used to mimic old film stocks. I particularly like the grain on the AGFA APX 400.

Falun Dafa practitioners from all around the world have participated in rallies or marches over the weekend to commemorate the peaceful protest that took place on April 25, 1999, when 10,000 practitioners gathered in Beijing and held a peaceful appeal to seek the release of practitioners illegally arrested in Tianjin. Three months later, Chinese Communist Party leader Jiang Zemin launched the nationwide persecution of Falun Dafa that continues today.

See Creatures

Detail of the giant wave

Detail of the giant wave

A departure from my last project on Queen Liz has led me towards photographing nature. The magic lights, life and movement of the ocean. I spent a late summer in Ibiza filming and photographing the ocean. Now after two years working on illustrating and animating the ocean I have my first complete illustration. Working title is 'Big Blue' or 'See Creatures'. I'm leaning towards 'See Creatures' suggested by my friend Joel - he's quite good at naming stuff.

Here is a snippet of it - the final is a sweeping panoramic giant wave with a plethora of creatures in it. I'm keeping it under wraps for now. Watch out for more updates on awesome ocean animations, illustrations and wallpaper videos.

Jiang Zemin is running out of gang

Looks like Xi Jinping regime is closing in on Jiang Zemin

Just been reading this article by Larry Ong for the Epoch Times about Jiang Zemin's son being under house arrest in China. It looks like Xi Jinping is closing in on the Jiang Zemin, as he runs out of gang to support him. I think his days are numbered and his power waning.

As is customary, moves begin with the offsprings, the sons,
— Xin Ziling the former defense official

Have a read of the article below to see what's been going on with the current purge of the Jiang Gang.

A Sea of Stars I

After watching numerous weird and wonderful videos of Sea Stars (aka Starfish) in action I have embarked on a bit of playful painting of Sea Stars. There is so many colour patterns to choose from. I'm using a range of shiny Krink and grog ink on paper, metal and wood. Being very careful of this drippy ink as its so easy to make a mess.

24th April 2016 the peaceful appeal against the persecution of Falun Gong continues

Commemorating April 25th 1999. The first peaceful appeal in Beijing against the brutal crackdown and arrests of Falun Gong at Tianjin In China.

Thousands of Falun Gong practitioners went to Beijing to the appeals office on Fuyou Street. Most practitoners believed the National Appeals Office was somewhere in the middle of Fuyou Street near the west gate of Zhongnanhai (Chinese Communist Party HQ). Chinese security arranged the Falun Gong practitioners around the Zhongnanhai compound, creating the appearance that Falun Gong "surrounded" or "besieged" Zhongnanhai. This would later be used in the propaganda war setup by Jiang Zemin, former Chinese Communist Party leader. This was beginning of the persecution of Falun Gong.

Hi - I'm reading "The Slaughter: Mass Killings, Organ Harvesting, and China's Secret Solution to Its Dissident Problem" by Ethan Gutmann and wanted to share this quote with you.

"So as April 25 dawned, a lovely, crisp spring morning, a thirty-three year old consultant Zeng Zheng—better known by her foreign name Jennifer Zeng—pulled her bike into Fuyou Street and instantly noticed that something was a little off. Jennifer had briefly worked in the Zhongnanhai compound and knew the security intimately. Normally there were so many guards that it was difficult to enter the street without being questioned. Now, just before 7 a.m., practitioners were strolling down Fuyou street chatting and looking around for the appeals office, as if they were in a shopping mall. But a line of police stood on the southern end. The police told the practitioners to go back up the block and stand at the entrance to the hutong, across from Zhongnanhai's western gate. At the same time, up at the north entrance to Fuyou, policemen were carefully leading practitioners to the west side of the street and directing them to walk south. Both groups merged right outside the main entrance of Zhongnanhai. The National Appeals Office would open at 8:00 a.m., they were told. Jennifer understood: “They were very well prepared, they were expecting us.”"
